ABOUT
Cristina Flores is a Mexican-American soprano, film, commercial, and theater actress originally from the border town, Laredo, TX. Her performances have been featured in film festivals, audio books, and commercials in Texas, L.A., Tokyo, India, and Nicaragua. Some of her past roles include: Flora in Turn of the Screw, Greta Fiorentino in Street Scene, Maria in West Side Story, and Ben, in Matt and Ben. She was seen as Lily, in the short film, Pepito, on HBO Latino, and was nominated for a B. Iden Payne Award for Outstanding Actress in her role as the bird, Delilah, with One Ounce Opera in Austin, TX.
Cristina loves performing in central TX and has a deep background in education through her experience in AmeriCorps, as the former Children’s Choir Director at Central Presbyterian Church, former Bilingual Early Childhood Music Instructor at Armstrong Community Music School, and as one of Austin Opera’s Teaching Artists 2023-2025. She has a strong passion for making opera accessible in the community and currently sits as the Board President of One Ounce Opera, a nonprofit arts producer presenting dramatic musical events as accessible, contemporary, and mainstream through thoughtful, diverse programming in non-traditional locations in Austin. Cristina currently lives in San Antonio, TX where she serves as a committee member under the San Antonio Arts Commission, advising the Mayor and City Council on arts funding and public art initiatives and collaboration with the Department of Arts & Culture - City of San Antonio. She loves San Antonio, where she currently performs as a solo artist, collaborating with local visual and dance artists and partnering with local businesses to produce curated, interdisciplinary, and accessible experiences that brings the arts and live performance to diverse audiences.
